The Department of Geology & Mines is the country's lead agency responsible for administration and management of mineral resources of the country. The department is mandated to carry out mineral resources exploration and development through the provision of geoscientific information on minerals, and management of scarce & equitable mineral resources through judicious lease of mining, surface collections and other geoscientific services. Furthermore, the department is also responsible as a regulatory body to carry out compliance monitoring of mines and quarries to ensure scientific, sustainable and environment friendly extraction of mineral resources of the country.
